Expert SA Cares: Supporting Bombani Shelter for Abused Women

Expert SA Cares recognizes the desperate need to support and stand in solidarity with women and children of South Africa and across the world.

To show support for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Expert SA Cares, our partner from South Africa, will donate R50 for every online purchase of R5000 or more made over the next 16 days to the UN Women’s nominated local partner, Bombani Shelter for Abused Women.

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women will mark the launch of the UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign (Nov 25- Dec 10) — an initiative of 16 days of activism concluding on the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day (10 December).

This campaign, led by the UN Secretary-General and UN Women since 2008, aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world, calling for global action to increase awareness, promote advocacy, and create opportunities for discussion on challenges and solutions.

In order to encourage an open dialogue and break the silence, the UN Women is launching #orangetheworld, a social media campaign to raise awareness for the need for funding and to show solidarity with survivors. Nearly 1 in 3 women have been abused in their lifetime. In times of crises, the numbers rise, as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic and recent humanitarian crises, conflicts, and climate disasters.

  • A new report from UN Women, based on data from 13 countries since the pandemic, shows that 2 in 3 women reported that they or a woman they know experienced some form of violence and are more likely to face food insecurity. Only 1 in 10 women said that victims would go to the police for help.

Expert SA Cares recognizes the desperate need to support, protect and stand in solidarity with our women and children of South Africa and across the world, too many of whom are silent victims.

After the successful Expert SA Cares 16 Days of Activism campaign they participated in last year, this year Expert SA would like to show their support again by partnering with UN Women and pledged to donate R50 for every purchase of R5000 or more made at expertstores.co.za during 16 Days of Activism, (25 November – 10 December) to their nominated partner organization, Bombani Shelter for Abused Women in Alexandra.
